Mark Baker smooths out the tightest corners with this delta

Make an error sanding and you might as well say goodbye to the whole project. As a turner I can't think why furniture makers have taken so long to come round to the benefits of delta sanders. After all, sanding by hand and using random orbit sanders just don't have much impact on really hard-to-reach areas such as corners, architraves and the like. So all hail the detail/delta sander.

AEG's model features full-wave electronics, an integrated absorption adaptor and a Velcro attachment system that allows sanding paper to be changed in seconds.

In use

Variable speed - low speed for coarse grades; the finer the grade the higher the speed - means an absence of massive score marks from the abrasive and a more evenly abraded surface.

Abrasive is attached to the triangular sanding head via an easy-to-use hook-and-loop system, and the extension tip accessory allows even finer control and a longer reach into the work.

The verdict

I wish this piece of kit had been around when I did my apprenticeship because I can't imagine being without mine now.
