Testing times

I"ve had a busy old few days in the office and workshop. Not only is it the pre-Christmas rush, but the new testing section in the magazine has been extended slightly so I"ve tested a few extra bits of kit for issue 37.

Testing kit is quite a fine balance to get right. Let"s face it, most manufacturers put out pretty good stuff these days... there isn"t really that much that makes it to market that is totally awful. Unless you know differently, of course.

You also have to balance the usefulness and usability of the equipment against its price and intended market.

And, given that I"ve been out of the pro woodworking game for quite some time, I"ve also had to play catch-up with the latest technology. When I was training as a joiner, cordless was just beginning to become part of the workplace for pro joiners. And now the technology has moved along enormously. I"ve just tested the Metabo LTX Impuls combi drill/driver and, really, it"s a fantastic bit of kit...

So, I would be interested in hearing what you think of the tests in WPP. And, I would be interested in what you think of kit you"ve bought recently!
