Earlier this year, quite a few of people viewed the Exhibition by John Makepeace and attended his lecture at the Crafts Study Centre at Farnham. It's now an opportunity to see the work of Fred Baier at the Centre, and he is also giving a talk there.
Fred is by no means a conventional designer-maker in the field of furniture construction. Maker, certainly, of very high quality, turning his hand to include metalwork occasionally as his project demands. But design is his outstanding forte, developed from his training at Canterbury and Birmingham Colleges of Art, and finally the Royal College. And all that time learning furniture making in his spare time and vacations. His exuberance, vivid imagination, wit and great good humour, took it on from there, now to his early sixties with exceptional achievements under his belt as well as his current post as artist-in-residence for the House of Lords.
Book your place for the talk at 5.30 to 7pm on Wednesday, 2 November, from the Crafts Study Centre at the University for the Creative Arts in Farnham, by telephone 01252 891 450, on Tuesday 1, November after 10am.
