The Irish Seminar
Thursday, September 26, 2013
Hello there! Well, I just thought I would write a quick blog as, unusually, I have a spare five minutes! So, I suppose the most exciting event in the woodturners" calendar begins tomorrow with the Irish Woodturners" Guild seminar. How many of you will be attending?
I must say that this event has come round very fast indeed! Mark will not be at the seminar this year as he has prior commitments, but we will both be there in spirit! The line-up this year is particularly impressive and I am glad to see a lady turner in the mix - yes, I am of course referring to Joey Richardson, who I have to admit is one of my favourites. I had the pleasure of meeting Joey last year at Wizardry in Wood, although I have yet to see her demonstrate. Dutch turner Marcel van Berkel will also be there, along with segmented turner Dennis Keeling and the great Les Thorne. But don"t worry, the Irish turners haven"t been forgotten and Joe Laird, Robert "Connor, plus many more local turners, will be appearing over the three days.
On a different note, I was very excited this morning to receive an email from someone who read my last blog! It is always great to receive feedback from readers and even better to see the projects you"ve turned. The reader in question was Tim Heil, a member of the Minnesota Woodturners" club, who shared a photo of some turned handles he"d made. Hopefully we can get Tim in the magazine, so watch this space!
As ever, we do love to hear from you - so do feel free to drop us an email and let us see what you"ve been turning.
To any of you going to the seminar, have a great time and happy turning!
