Happy new year, everyone!
2012 is well and truly upon us and we have been very busy in the office trying to get ahead after the Christmas break. Did many of you manage to get into your workshops much over the Christmas period? And if so, what did you turn? We would love to see some pics.
How many of you have entered our Twitter competition yet? Full details can be found here, and it’s not too late for you to win a prize. Just visit our Twitter page, follow us if you don’t already, and just retweet the special prize retweets. It couldn’t be easier. And you could win a prize or two, so get retweeting!
How many of you are looking to go on a woodturning course this year? We found out this morning that Eli Avisera will be giving a one-day demo as well as a one-week tuition course at the KTMP School of Woodturning in March. You can find out more here.
In terms of shows, the Woodcraft Wales event takes place next weekend (21-22 January) and sees a host of demonstrators appearing, including our very own Mark Baker. There is also a range of trade stands there; so do pop along if you can. Find out more details here.
If you’ve been following our Maker of the Week series on the website, then you can see a special montage of makers who have appeared over the last 10 weeks or so by clicking this link. We hope that this special feature has been inspirational for you; we’d love to hear your feedback. Similarly, if there’s anything else you would like to see covered, then do let us know.
I’m busy on the website today, and also busy on the magazine as well. I’ve just finished writing a feature on Clay Foster, and was amazed by his sculptural forms. You can see more of his work by visiting his website.
I also had the pleasure of speaking to Hawaiian turner Andy Cole, and we will be featuring his stunning natural edge pieces in the next issue (238). See more examples of his work here.
Well, I had better go now but I wish you all a great weekend and hope to hear from you soon.
