Holding the fort
Wednesday, August 17, 2011
As most of you will already know, Mark is currently out of the office and gallivanting around Norway on a cruise ship, meeting famous turners, dabbling in a spot of fishing, and generally having a great time turning. Yes, the Norwegian Woodturning Cruise is certainly an exciting event in many a woodturner’s calendar. So I am left holding the fort once again!
As many of you know, we are almost ready to launch the new Woodworkers Institute website and we’re just putting the finishing touches to the design and a few technical issues that need tweaking. I’m very proud of what we’ve done and I can’t wait for you all to see the new and improved site and for you to interact with the new elements we’ve incorporated. I can’t give too much away, but to celebrate the new site we’re also introducing a fantastic competition which will be running over a number of weeks. So if you want to get your hands on some top woodworking bits and bobs then log on to the site on 15 September and enter our competition.
In other news, we were very sad to hear of the recent passing on Bill Jones. Bill was also a big name in the woodturning world and he will be sorely missed by many. We have a special feature dedicated to Bill in issue 233, so make sure you don’t miss that. We’ve got some other great articles lined up for you and I’ve been talking to some new woodturners, which is always exciting. Make sure you check out the next issue and see what we have in store for you.
I’d better get back to some subbing, but if you need anything while Mark is away, then do feel free to get in touch and I will do my best to help!
