Hello everyone, I hope you all had wonderful Easter breaks? It’s my first day back and I’m trying to get back into the swing of things.

Did you all find the time to turn some projects over the four-day weekend? If so, please feel free to send us your images, and we will gladly put these in the readers’ gallery section for you.

On a different note, has anyone turned any Royal Wedding paraphernalia?! Just thought I’d ask! We would very much like to see your creations if so. We have gone a bit Royal Wedding mad in the office and a turned wedding favour, etc. would certainly bring a smile to our faces!

I went to Cornwall for my Easter holiday and had a great time in the sun, on the beach and eating lots (of course). I went to the village of Tintagel one day and was amazed at the range of turned goods in the local galleries. I saw some beautiful bowls, turned fruit and other such items. It is great to see that turners in Cornwall have their work in galleries, and I do hope they manage to make a living from this. The good thing about Cornish towns such as Tintagel and Boscastle is that they have a very strong tourist trade, and therefore gallery items are especially sought after. Long may this continue.

It is deadline day today so I had better dash. Thank you again for your continued support, and thanks to everyone who utilises our social media tools. We have quite a few more followers after the Easter weekend, so we’re hoping this will grow and grow. Just in case you’re not aware, on Facebook we’re Woodworkers Institute and on Twitter we’re @Woodworkers. Come and join the fun!

If I don’t hear from you before, then have great long weekends again this weekend!

All the best,
