This weekend will see me with a weekend off, with no shows to attend. I must admit to being absolutely shattered, so no work for me this weekend in any shape whatsoever. The weather’s meant to be nice so maybe a walk or visit somewhere I haven’t been to before. Last weekend saw me at The South of England Show in Kent. It was a delight to see so many carvers there, working on so many different projects and asking lots of questions.

Next week of 21/22 March, I am the Turning show at the Axminster store in Nuneaton

Although this is a turning event, we all know that there are a lot of turners who also carve and vice versa. The boundaries between the two are blurring more and more.

10 Turners Turning’ featuring Ready Steady Turn

Nuneaton is hosting a major, national woodturning event. Ten top professional turners – Mark Baker, Richard Findley, Andrew Hall, Mark Hancock, Steve Heeley, Phil Irons, Stuart King, Stuart Mortimer, Gary Rance and Colwin Way – will be demonstrating their skills and taking part in the Ready Steady Turn competition. Other demonstrations will include pen turning, pyrography, carving with Peter Berry – Saturday only, scroll sawing and sharpening using Tormek. Plus Chestnut, Crown and Hermes – Friday only – will be there. This FREE, non-ticketed event will take place from 10am-4pm; all are welcome so put the date in the diary.

Date: Fri 21st & Sat 22nd March 2014

The week after, 28/29 March, I am at the new woodworking show in Newark: The midlands woodworking and power toolshow: The Midlands Woodworking and Powertool Show. This is a new show and I am eager to see who will be there and also how many people attend.

Shows are a great way of seeing things and also meeting up with people. I would be interested to hear your thoughts about shows and whether you do or do not attend.

Happy carving
