I’m in the hot seat whilst Michelle is away in the sunny climes of Australia. I’m not envious, honest! I do hope she has a great time. In my travels I am privileged to see much work created by carvers around the world. The clubs are dynamic and growing in numbers, and many are doing a wonderful job  ...

So I"m off to the other side of the world tomorrow, and whilst I have finally got excited to travel (just couldn"t before with all the work I wanted to get done beforehand), I have realised that I will be taking the British weather with me. Apparently Perth has been hit with the worst storm  ...

19 March 2010

Well I"m glad to report that we did hit repro with the next edition of Woodcarving and I have the lovely proofs sitting here on my desk, ready to be corrected over the weekend. What I really wanted to share with you today is something I came across whilst researching news for Woodcarving. In the area of Margaret River in Australia, is an amusing look at sculpture, where the subject matter is the staple of the countryside, the stalwart on a farm, and a regular at McDonalds; ...

4 March 2010

Yes it"s that time of the year when we start thinking about what shows we might like to attend during the warmer months. The sun comes out and we start to feel all happy and warm at the thought of walking about marquees and stalls, watching demonstrations and purchasing tools and gifts, and gene ...

2 March 2010

I got to thinking on my way to work this morning, when was it that I first became aware of carving? I sat and tried to think back to when I was a child and I believe my first encounters were all subtle and through my going to church. There were (and still are) some beautiful examples at the church I ...
