Easter projects?

So what did you all get up to over the Easter break? Seems a long time ago now, doesn"t it? I didn"t manage to get any carvings started but I did manage to take all the wallpaper off the living room (hooray). If only I had taken photos of it before hand to show you how offending it was. Still, it"s gone and the bare walls look a lot better than the papered effect before it.

So I feel inspired to crack on with it but the only problem is that it"s getting nice outside. The days are getting brighter, longer, sunnier and warmer and the garden is also calling me to come outside. I have decided not to grow too much this year. I slightly overestimated the tomatoes last year and had too many to keep on top of, the spinach and lettuce got eaten by slimy things with and without shells on, and the sweetcorn was just a little too late ripening. The rhubarb worked well though and more has popped up this year after accidently meeting the strimmer last year – they really are hardy plants! I"m looking at trying my hand with raspberries, more sweetcorn, some spinach, one tomato plant, spring onions, beetroot and herbs. We shall see how these develop. If anyone has any handy hints as to keeping the pests away, please let me know. I don"t want to spray any chemicals and certainly don"t want to use pellets as I have a cat and a dog, both of which would happily chomp on things which are bad for them.

The pear logs which I was planning to use for a carving idea, have now been claimed for lovely flower borders so I"m of to source some more wood.

Have a great weekend and see you next week.
