This series of furniture was inspired by Lila's experience of the restrictions of living in a small flat in Paris - where things had to be bent or distorted to make them fit the space - and her wish to break free from the monotony of ordinary life.

The pieces take the traditional forms of 18th-century French furniture and twists them into bizarre and surreal shapes.

Lila is a resident artist at the Lux Art Institute in California, which describes her furniture as 'whimsical pieces that are anthropomorphic, gestural, artful and vaguely humanoid without completely disconnecting from their original, more functional nature'.
