The national Wood Awards - the UK's premier award scheme with over 40 years of supporting excellence in architecture and furniture in the world's only naturally sustainable material - is now open for entries.
Designers and makers of furniture, based in Britain, are encouraged to enter the best work they have completed in the last two years - more information is on www.woodawards.com and the deadline is 16 May 2014.
The aim of the Wood Awards is to recognise, encourage and promote outstanding design, craftsmanship and installation using wood in projects throughout the UK and Northern Ireland, and with permission from the owner, anyone associated with a Bespoke or Production-Made furniture project not entered before can enter.
In order to recognise the high calibre of British building and furniture projects that use local and international wood species and products, the Wood Awards will feature all entries received on its social media - including Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest. This online exhibition of all entries will give all entrants the opportunity to inspire others and receive exposure before the shortlist is even considered. Later in the year, the Bespoke Furniture and Production Made Furniture shortlisted pieces will then be exhibited in person at this year's 100% Design from 17-20 September, along with a showcase of the 20 shortlisted architectural projects, before the winners are announced on the 18 November 2014.
The independent furniture judging panel is led by Sean Sutcliffe of Benchmark Furniture and includes leading furniture designer-makers Katie Walker, Rod Wales and John Makepeace.
Build your reputation in wood and enter the Wood Awards. It is free to enter and the closing deadline is 16 May 2014.
Closing date: 16 May 2014
