The 'Inception' chair is certainly one of illusion, with a unique layering design. Each chair layer has set grooves cut into it, as well as notches on the backs, to enable the structure to fit together like a puzzle.

The grooves range from 13mm wide to 3mm wide. Designed by Vivian Chiu, the mechanism of the chair works so that the pegs fit in the grooves of the chair that is one size bigger. The chairs slide into place, leaving the horizontal edges to line up. It is a simple and clean mechanism that allows the user to take the chair apart and put it back together as they wish.
