Welcome to our new regular feature:

In order to add a new area of interest to the forums and to encourage interaction between the different forum sections, the forum members are introducing this 'Members' Choice' thread to act as a showcase for a piece of work chosen by a member each week as their 'piece of the week'.

This week, Nick Simpson chose this turned oak bowl by Mark Sutton. Here's what Nick had to say about the piece: "I chose this bowl because it is simple and shows thoughtful use of wood and colour. The piece starts with clever orientation of the blank with the three burrs on the same radius. Mark has used bold black lines to define the rim and accentuate the transition to the central bowl. The use of much more subtle colouring on the rim strengthens the grain patterns and highlights the contrast with the plain burr-free bowl. My take-home message about this piece would be that it illustrates how time spent thinking about the orientation of the wood before cutting or chucking really pays dividends."

Congratulations again to Mark and we will bring you another chosen piece next week. You can find out more about the piece and see further comments by clicking here.
