Teaching the Turners of Tomorrow

Wednesday 16 October 2013

Following the success of the hands-on woodturning taster sessions, which East Herts Woodturners have organised for a number of years, the club hosted a Youth Training Day in October.

This was attended by eight young people who were taught some basic woodturning by four professional turners led by Andy Coates, the Chairman of the AWGB. The young people made a couple of bowls and an item between centres during the teaching sessions. At the end of the day, each student was presented with a certificate, Junior Membership of the AWGB and a copy of Woodturning magazine.

The East Herts Club acknowledges the support of Andy Coates, Paul Howard, Peter Nicholls and Tony Walton, Henry Taylor/Hamlet Tools, Woodturning magazine, the AWGB and the Worshipful Company of Turners.
