Tormek Sweden announced today the release of a special edition T-7 sharpener to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first Tormek machine. Before the Tormek, the proper care and sharpening of edge tools could only be accomplished with great effort. Tormek founder and design engineer, Torgny Jansson, developed the concept for a new, foolproof sharpening system as a way for anyone to easily maintain their tools and enjoy quality results from razor-sharp tools.
The 40th Anniversary model has several distinct features. The steel housing is painted a unique Graphite Grey and includes a special, '40 Years' commemorative badge forged into the front of the machine. The anniversary model also includes Tormek's Rotating Base, an indespensible accessory that allows a user to instantly rotate the machine 180° in order to change the sharpening direction, or to switch between sharpening and honing. The Anniversary model also includes a commemorative cap with the special '40 Years' badge.
The 2013 special edition T-7 has all the features that make Tormek the preferred sharpening system including:
A Powerful AC Motor and a Unique Gear System - the Tormek motor maintains an ideal RPM, regardless of load. A reliable, self-adjusting gear ensures you always get the correct torque, without excessive force and wear to the system.
Advanced Grindstone - the unique composition of the Tormek grindstone has been thoroughly tested to offer the best combination of efficient steel removal, smooth surface finish and a long life. There is no need to change discs or belts. Dress the stone with the Stone Grader SP-650 to get two different cutting actions from the same stone.
Precise Replication the key when sharpening with a Tormek is repeatability. You can shape a tool exactly to your needs. Complicated shapes such as fingernail turning gouges and oval skew chisels with a radius edge are sharpened easily.
Premium Model at Standard Price to celebrate this milestone, Tormek has announced that the limited edition T-7 including the Rotating Base and commemorative cap will be the same price as the regular T-7 model.
The special edition, 40th Anniversary model T-7 will be available only as long as supplies last. Available from 1 September, 2013.
