Tables inspired by where the wood grew

Looking for something a little different in the woodworking world, we stumbled across these pieces of furniture with a distinctive and somewhat familiar shape. This set of three - a small coffee table, a large coffee table, and a desk - are all formed in the shape of the state of California, from salvaged Claro walnut (Juglans hindsii), also known as North Californian walnut. We think it's a pretty nifty idea - the straight lines of the state's borders with Nevada to the East and Oregon to the North give it a logical orientation, while the coastal West is scattered with interesting shapes. A charming, simple concept by J. Rusten Furniture Studio.
