Practising furniture maker, Chris Tribe, is running a tool sharpening and fettling workshop on the weekend of 20–21 October. Most people who attend this workshop are astonished at the improvement in the performance of their planes and chisels brought about over the two days. The tool sharpening part of the course will show you how to get a fine edge on plane irons, chisels, marking knives, cabinet scrapers and even pencils.
You will go on to explore fettling and setting up the bench plane for optimum performance, including flattening the sole, the fit and profile of the chip breaker, seating and positioning of the frog and relieving the mouth. The workshop is backed up by a fully illustrated handout on CD.
