The new Makita EA3201 2-stroke petrol engine chainsaw is a robust, entry-level saw but with a host of features and benefits normally found on advanced compact chainsaws. Power is by a 32cc engine with a new electronic ignition system that controls stable idling, increases power output at the optimum RPM range and gives engine over-run protection. The Easy Start spring assisted starter combined with optimised engine management significantly reduces recoil resistance.
In addition MPI (Memory-Power-Ignition) technology is used for re-starting when hot. The engine is fitted with a catalytic exhaust system that meets all current emission regulations. This lightweight engine is of full aluminium construction allowing ease of service and maintenance.
Operator controls for this new Makita chainsaw have also been refined. A spring assisted recoil starter reduces the pull force required to start the saw and the on-off choke combination switch has an automatic lock at half throttle for easy starting. The fuel primer is conveniently placed to the right of the rear grip handle and the operation of the on-off machine control switch has been altered offering many advantages. When the engine is running a light downward touch on the switch kills the motor but the switch returns to the run position automatically so the motor is ready to start when pulled. This eliminates the risk of the motor being turned over without the ignition live which causes flooding. This saw features the Makita M2M vibration damping system (4 metal springs) that effectively separates the motor, drive and chain bar from the operator handgrips to reduce HAV risks. The safety brake stops the chain instantly.
The new Makita EA3201 chainsaw is supplied with a 35cm chain bar and 3/8†pitch chain. The tool-less chain tensioner system from the professional models has been adopted for this saw and the chain oiling pump can be adjusted for oil flow. The chain oil tank holds 0.2 litres of oil. Weighing just 4.3kgs, this high specification saw is ideal for all grounds care and site operations.
For the professional tree surgeon, with full training certification, a new Makita top-handled chainsaw has been introduced. The new Makita EA3100T is a 30.1cc, 2-stroke machine with 30cm bar, easy-start recoil starting and M2M vibration reduction system. A new air cleaner design prevents ingress of dirt and debris to the actual air-cleaner whilst the cleaner element is easily accessed by the simple removal of the cover by loosening the fixing knob. This enables quick and regular element cleaning which enhances performance and durability.
Weighing just 3.1kgs the new Makita EA3100T professional top handle chainsaw is designed for above ground arboreal operations.
