Steinert will be presenting a range of free top-class woodturning demonstrations in the most traditional woodturning region of Germany 'the Ergebirge' region (Ore Mountain) - from 24-25 August.
The demonstrations will celebrate the opening of the company's new showroom. Steinert is one of the biggest woodturning and woodcarving suppliers in Germany, run as a family business, now in its second generation.
Besides well-known international demonstrators including Richard Raffan, Michael O’Donnell, Mark Baker, Tobias Kaye and others, also local German woodturners will show their skills in several 1-2 hour demonstration. 'Left turning' will also be on show; a very traditional kind of turning in the region where the turner sits at the back of the lathe. A food driven lathe will also be in operation as well as a chain saw carver and a sculptor working with Arbortech products.
There are many beautiful sights to see in the Erzgebirge region including hundreds of woodturning workshops, some of which are open for visitors. There will be a shuttle bus going to a blacksmith workshop where Steinert manufactures its traditional woodturning tools, and a trip to the village of Seiffen where you can watch so-called ring-turners and many other woodturning related sights.
All the demonstrations are free but you must register as places are limited. Registration can be completed by seeing details below. Hotel reservation can be made at the local tourist information office: firstname.lastname@example.org.
