There’s just enough summer sun left in the day to enjoy one more outdoor event this year before heading into the workshop and lighting the wood-burner.

Bentley Weald Woodfair is like no other show in the South East in that it celebrates practically every aspect of timber use. From fine furniture that you can buy and take home on the day to stoves to keep you warm at night, the event has got something to please everyone.

As if the motor museum wasn’t enough to get you excited there are numerous marquees packed with craftwork of every discipline imaginable. If you want to see whole logs being milled into planks or perhaps watch your very own trugg take shape before your eyes it’s all going on.

If old tools are your thing, you won"t be disappointed because there’s plenty to see but make sure you seek out the Tool and Trades History Society (TATHS) stand try your hand at making an engineers screw clamp, a wand and even a traditional workman’s paper hat. Mr Bailey and I took up the challenge and are both a lot better off for the experience.

Full details can be found on the website.
