The F&C workshop is a well-stocked emporium of assorted equipment as you might imagine, but you’d be amazed at the number times we find ourselves caught short. On this occasion it was hinges that were proving to be the problem so I called in a favour and nipped round to a chum’s workshop to grab an assortment.

I guess it doesn’t matter what the activity is, in our case it’s usually taking pictures and not making furniture, but when the pressure’s on, be honest, we all forget to put things back where they came from. Return to the scene the following day and it’s as if you have taken the contents of the Axminster catalogue, loaded it into a blender and left it on pulse over-night. So today will be tidy-up day and who knows we might even come across the hinges that I could swear we had in a box in drawer labelled ‘Misc’. There I suspect lies the problem and something for another day.

As far as news goes this week the HSE have launched a new look website for its’ woodworking information. http://www.hse.gov.uk/woodworking/index.htm?ebul=gd-woodworking The subject is never going to be everyone’s idea of a good read but in recent years the HSE has done a lot to make the right information accessible if you are in the early stages of setting up a workshop take a look at their ‘Getting Started’ area http://www.hse.gov.uk/woodworking/getting-started.htm

With just five working days before repro it’s all go as we dot the ‘i’s and cross the ‘t’s on the next issue so I’m going to get on with the task in hand.

Have a great weekend
