It cannot have escaped your attention by now that we have a new look website. To be honest I’m still getting to grips with the new content, much like some of the other woodworking department, and hope to be fully up to speed with things shortly. The site as ever is constantly updated with the latest news of tools, equipment and events so remember to visit regularly and be sure to get in touch if you have anything to share.

It’s at this time of year that I start planning the forward features list for the magazine and implement some of the ideas that you have suggested. Yes, believe it or not the content is driven by the many conversations I have on my travels with readers as well as contributors throughout the year. I’m planning on being at D&M Toolshow in few weeks so if you’re able to get along do drop by the stand and say hello.

As part of the London Design Festival www.londondesignfestival.com there are plenty of events to keep you occupied this weekend

Award-winning architects AL_A and engineering firm Arup transform the V&A Museum’s Grand Entrance on Cromwell Road with the installation of a giant timber wave cascading down the steps. Built from oil-treated American red oak, Timber Wave is a three-dimensional latticework spiral, 12 metres in diameter, that employs construction techniques and materials normally used in furniture making to create a majestic three - storey - high structure.

The subject of our workshop profile in F&C186 , Benchmark Furniture will be exhibiting at Design Junction www.thedesignjunction.co.uk If you’re at all interested in structure this one’s for you.

Then of course there’s 100% Design www.100percentdesign.co.uk

If I’m exposing a Southern bias don’t panic The Scottish Furniture Makers www.scottishfurnituremakers.org are holding their 10th annual exhibition at the Dovecot Studios in Edinburgh from the 1st to 16th October

All the best this weekend
