Another fine mess

I spent a lot of the weekend preparing for and then finally getting round to decorating at home. It is never as straightforward as it first appears and so not something I particularly enjoy until I get stuck in. But now that this project has my full attention it is full steam ahead. It’s been coming for a long time and so far I’ve managed to avoid it but the switch over (I’m talking about water based paints) is fast approaching. Maybe it’s me, but is there a knack to using the stuff? If there is I haven’t got it and there doesn’t appear to be a definitive answer as to its suitability for applying straight over the top of oil paints. I should mention that I have had no problem with water based lacquers and varnishes. I’m usually quite happy with the results and more often than not get a pretty good finish.
I’m writing this up at the workshop after completing a cover shoot session for 164 today. The wood turners were in yesterday and the place looks like a bombsite so while I’m in tidying up mode, and believe me there’s plenty of it, I think I’ll run a few things across the Tormek – lets see if we can take the edge off those gouges for a start!
