    I read somewhere that oak wood naturally contains too much tannic acid. And so the spots are happened when exposed metal and moisture for example..... wet glass and other related stuffs.

    It may be worth using an outdoor furniture oil it will protect the wood and repel moisture and dry so as not to come off on your cloths
