I love the natural beauty of wood but also believe that combining sympathetic media with the turned piece can add to the finished form.

But I guess I'll let YOU be the judge of that.

This is a piece of spalted oak approx 140mm diameter by 70mm tall. The interior was textured, sealed, primed with acrylic, guilded and the inside lacquered. The outside has been sealed with three coats of danish oil.

I appreciate it won't be everyone cup of tea but would value your thoughts

Well it ticks all the boxes for me. I think it's easy to go over the top with colouring/decorating. But the interior is sympathetic to the exterior on this one. If anything, I think it actually highlights the detail on the outside. Beautifully done.

Hi Adam,

I too like it a lot.

For some reason I keep coming back to it and I can't quite decide why I like it but don't love it. It is clearly beautifully made and finished, with a lovely form.
The only thing I can think of is that the inside might be distracting me a bit from the beauty of the outside. Possibly the inside is just a little too light and bright for me - and that is just a personal thing, so hope that's not taken badly.

Cheers

Greg
I hope you like my son's caricature of me! If you want one of you - PM me.

Hi Greg - sorry for the delay in replying I've been away.

Completely understand your view and I'm grateful you expressed it.

All the best
