Topic: Spalted beech bowl / platter
Posted: 27 Jan 2019 at 6:33pm
Hi all sorry not been on here for a while. This is the first thing I have turned since October last Yr so quite a while for me. Life got in the way. This piece came from a tree that was felled very close to my house .I slabbed up the log and left some to air dry. It measures 13 inch across and 2 inches thick Right really pleased with the colour and shape. C and c welcome dunk

Beauty - the timber reminds me of shallow water rushing in over a dappled river bed. Nice
I hope you like my son's caricature of me! If you want one of you - PM me.

A very nice platter. The wood is gorgeous and your design is spot on. The lines add interest and definition without distracting from the shape and figuring. Lovely!
Cheers
