Just a little ornament. It's one piece of Silver Maple 18" diameter (457mm) and 20" (508mm) high

I deliberately left the flats in the cap and also cut radial grooves underneath the cap to resemble the gills on a real mushroom.
Finish is 4 coats West System 3 epoxy.
Here it is on the lathe after cutting the gills

The 4 pieces of reinforcing rod were added to provide some extra support in case anyone was tempted to sit on it. It will be buried in the grass about 3" on a bed of river stone to allow drainage. The rods were glued in and coated with more epoxy.

It's going to look so good popping out of the grass and will inevitably be sat upon, so the re-bar was the right way to go.
