Topic: Pear Platter?

Not really a platter, more of a shallow Bowl, but thought the wood looked pretty enough to share.
One of a few bits I managed in January before reacquaintance with an old problem stopped play for a couple of weeks.

Yes, great for smooth turning and easy finishing, I find it difficult to season in anything like sizable blanks, seems to have a split personality quotient all of its own.
Think the next lot I get (assuming a windfall comes this way) is going to be salvaged as tool and knife handle blanks rather than suffer the frustration.

I have some fruit wood but can only see it being used for spindle type work

, Tried a couple of large blanks today that are currently stashed by the bandsaw in the hope that I can salvage something for a couple of tool handles, the numerous void cracks that appeared as I started to shape them were just too much, trying to disguise them in a finished piece just does not work on such fine grained smooth looking wood.
