I have been offered some large pieces of holly 12" in diameter by 24" in length.

The tree has been taken down because of a phyopthora infection. I have found a lot of info about the desease but not about how it affects the timber for wood turning, does any one know whether the timber is usuable? Or whether it is safe to use?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

John

I don't know about the disease, but if it's free wood - slap it on the lathe and give it a go - what's the worst that can happen?
I hope you like my son's caricature of me! If you want one of you - PM me.
