Fire Surround

James Hatter makes this stylish oak fire surround
Houses built without chimneys were quite common during the 70s and 80s, where functional radiators or storage heaters were used to provide central heating, and many flats have the same arrangement. More modern builds have seen the re-introduction of a fireplace as a focal point while retaining the convenience of central heating.
Fireplace suites have been around in one form or another for some time, and can add the right degree of character to a room that lacks a built-in fireplace. The most convenient type of suite consists of an electric heater source and a decorative surround, although other heat sources are available but these usually require a flue outlet to be taken into consideration.
