The Life of Trees - News
Thursday 03 May 2012
The Somerset Guild of Craftsmen is delighted to continue their annual exhibition with emerging designer makers studying at Bridgwater College, Somerset. A select number of designers have been specially chosen from Bridgwater students, including furniture that demonstrates excellence within contemporary design, form and vision whilst representing the creative flair of individuals working with wood.
The exhibition will display the exploration into this sustainable material as a source of great inspiration for stunning furniture design and how trees continue their lives through the artistic endeavours of craftsmanship.
To accompany the exhibition the Guild are hosting a number of free, informal drop-in demonstrations during May, providing a great opportunity to meet a number of makers and discover the skill and craftsmanship behind their work.
Demonstrations run from 11am-3pm:
1. Sat 5 May - Sue Burne - glass engraving
2. Sat 12 May - Trish Burridge - stitch textiles
3. Sat 19 May - David M Brown - letter carving in wood
4. Sat 26 May - Clare Colby - paper craft
