Quick Fix Sharpen Your Saw
Friday 05 November 2010

1.You need a simple set of tools to sharpen a saw. A saw horse, file and a saw set
These days, hardpoint saws are all the rage, but there’s a lot of satisfaction to be had owning a good old fashioned saw, and sharpening and setting it yourself. It seems a little fiddly at first, but with a good saw sharpening jig (see below), it's a lovely way to pass an hour or so. All you need for the job, as seen in the main picture, are a saw sharpening file with a triangular profile, a jig, and a saw tooth setting gauge. You can pick these up at most tool stores, or second hand at car boot sales and the like.
