Table Lamp

Andy Standing enjoys a lightbulb moment with this great one plank project

1.Start by marking out the plank with a rule and try square

Table lamps can be remarkably expensive, so why not make your own. Of course, many people choose to turn their lamp bases, but if you, like me, are not that great at turning, you need an alternative plan. Here is a simple design that is pretty easy to make. You will need to buy the electrical components, and some paint and a length of 8mm threaded rod will also be a help. Apart from that you just need your plank. Choose a nice piece of hardwood if you can. The plan here shows components to make a pair of lamps.

tools needed

Tri square, ruler, pencil

Table saw, bandsaw, handsaw

Abrasives, finishing oil

Pillar drill, 8mm bit

Paint, finishing oil,

8mm threaded rod, nut, spanner

Electric flex and equipment

electrical wiring

When wiring any electric appliance, in this case a lamp stand, it not only requires care and attention but will also mean that you will have to ensure all work that is carried out complies with current safety/legal requirements.
