Hello carvers
With issue 126 just one week away from hitting the shops I can begin to discuss issue 127 without confusing any readers – or myself. As you will know, in each issue we conduct one feature length interview, which is always a joy to write and read. In issue 127, I will be interviewing Lenka Pavlickova, a world-famous marionette and hand-puppet carver. She's a very inspiring woman in a very niche discipline that she dominates with her immense talent. She really is at the top of her game.
Originally from Prague – a city with a huge historical connection to marionnette carving – Lenka is now located in the North of England. In an interview with the BBC last year, Lenka gave a wonderful insight into her craft, especially how personal it is to her. The characters she carves are often a reflection of the way she feels. The marionettes are so expressive that you can imagine them having a life of their own.
If you can't wait until the interview, you can visit her website to find out more.
