Record Power have always focused intently on our customers’ needs and this was the starting point when we decided to develop the first of our new generation of lathes, the Coronet Herald. Having spent many years talking face to face with woodturners at the many shows we attend, we have gained a strong grasp of what turners look for in their ideal lathe and believe we have created a machine that truly delivers in every area. In addition, with over 200 years of combined experience within the company and the help of professional woodturners, we have employed an approach of rigorous consultation, design, adaptation and testing to make the Coronet Herald fulfill all the needs of most woodturners.
The design brief was to create a machine with the rigidity and performance of the very large, heavy (and relatively expensive) lathes on the market but deliver it at a much more compact and workshop-friendly size whilst also being considerably more affordable, and this is what we believe we have achieved with the Coronet Herald.
Many of the professionals who tested the prototype machines commented that it would be their ideal lathe - manageable enough in size to take to demonstrations and shows, yet with similar and often greater performance than the larger machines in their permanent workshops and training schools. The Herald is not only a beautifully designed and engineered lathe, it is made with unsurpassed accuracy and quality, ensuring the whole experience of turning, from setting up the machine, to using it and, ultimately, producing work you can be proud of, is as enjoyable and trouble-free as possible. The sleek, modern curves of the design ensure the lathe has an attractive and contemporary style whilst at the same time making reference to the vintage Coronet series of woodworking machines which provide the heritage and the starting point of Record Power’s involvement with woodturning.
The Coronet Herald features a state-of-the-art electronic variable speed drive system, swivel head, reverse facility and 24-point indexing. This innovative machine offers capacities, features and performance that far exceed anything a lathe of this size has been capable of before - it brings top-end professional performance at a fraction of the size and cost of comparable heavy-duty machines.
