Does anyone know of a company where I can hire a mafell portable bandsaw, I only rarely need the use for one so the 4 grand price tag isn't worth it, I have tried looking but to no avail, I'm assuming there isn't any where but thought someone on here might be able to surprise me. I only need it to make a curved tie beam and 2 x jowel posts, I can do it without, but as always the job takes 10 x longer.
P.S I know I can use a chain saw, but the clean up operation in terms of sanding it smooth afterwards is'nt worth the hassle.

Just an idea. You might be better off finding a joinery or cabinet making shop who is prepared to let you use their saw and take the beam to the machine.
A lathe is a tool not a constraint.
