   NEW SERIES: Mastercrafts – Green Woodcraft – Friday 12 February, 9.00pm, BBC2

For all you green woodwork enthusiasts out there, here is a new series, which you will love. Presented by Monty Don, this new series looks at the techniques of traditional crafts, starting with woodcraft. The first episode starts in the open-air workshop of Guy Mallinson, set in the Dorset woods, where Guy teaches green woodwork courses and makes various items from green, freshly felled wood. Three volunteers - a garden designer, a single mum and a teacher - put themselves under Guy's tutelage. Tasks involve turning chair legs using traditional skills such as pole lathe turning, as well as using drawknives and gouges. This series intends to inspire people to try similar skills for themselves, using traditional techniques and materials.

It certainly will be nice to see something woodwork-related on the television, and the good news is that this series will be running for 6 episodes, so be sure to tune in next week.
