Been a long time since I've been on here. Went back to School and been working on my car a ton. That is why the subject of my second carving is this
I'm going to turn it into my shift knob for my '87 Cabriolet. As far as I know it's the first 3D VW rabbit logo.
I posted it on a Volkswagen forum, and everyone loved it. Some people say I should make a mold of it and sell them. I'm broke, so I can't do that right now. Anyway, one of them actually sent me a private message asking me if I'd do one for them. Best part was he said "name your price." So I'll be selling my first piece of artwork. I'm bummed I'm not keeping it though because this one is turning out better and I scaled it up because the other one is too small.

Nice shape and proportion Degs and really good movement. What tools are you using? I thought your giraffe was coming on nicely too. Why stop there? The giraffe looks well proportioned and really like the way the head is stretching up. Dare you streamline the legs, neck and mane - hate for anything to snap. Keep posting.

I'm using knives and a dremel a lot more. I'm pretty sure the chisel type tools I bought are for wood turning, so I only have a straight one. It works well for removing sizable portions quickly, but with the dremel I can get into so many small places. The utility knife also works well with the small objects I'm making I think. Mostly what I want to do is make functional pieces, so moving on from the giraffe makes sense. I want to make more wooden pieces for my car and I have other ideas as well.
