Hi, does anyone know a woodcarver in the Leeds/York/Wetherby area that would be willing/able to make me a Professor Yaffle? You might remember that Professor Yaffle was the carved wooden woodpecker bookend from the 1970's children's TV series, Bagpuss (see link below for image). I don't want him to be a bookend, I'd like him to be a stand-alone figure.

Hi Suzilou,
Two of the best puppet makers currently working just now (who also have the what is probably the best collection in the UK) are John Blundall and Stephen Foster. I don't know either of them personally, but know their work. They're based in Glasgow, and their website is at: http://www.theworldthroughwoodeneyes.co.uk/index.html I'm sure you'll recognise many of their puppets, not least Winnie the Witch, which is a superb puppet http://www.theworldthroughwoodeneyes.co.uk/winnie.html and Parker. I hope this is useful, George |
