Any ideals on how too make lovely varnish stairs not so deadly!!!!!Looks great but a bit worried any help would be great!!

Try a satin varnish rather than gloss.
I have a friend who adds a little silver sand, this however will give a rough finish (i know thats the point) but it will look rough too so may take something away from the overall look.
I finished my Ash open stairs in Osmo Polyx Oil, very hard wearing, easy to apply with a satin finish.

Hi Mark,thanks for the advise!i applied satin finish varnish and after installing the stairs walked up and down it in my socks and seemed to be fine(mind you my feet where pretty sweaty ,so the jury still out!!)
