In the process of building the Maloof Inspired Rocker (using Charles Brock's plans).
Does anyone know a source for one of the router cutters required for the leg joinery: Rabbet bit with 1 1/2" diameter and 1/2" rebate (preferably 1/2" shank). I've ordered from Rutlands, but they are out of stock and not due in till the end of March! Axminster and DMTools don't carry it surprisingly. I have the roundover bit with 3/4" radius, although only a 1/4" shank, so I guess I could make up a jig to cut the mortice with a straight cutter and guide bush, but it's not ideal. Any thoughts? |

You could also look at Infinty. They had a good write up in an earlier mag. I also have a set which have been very good.

Sorry to take so long to update you all. I've ben laid low by a virus.
So, how did I get on? I decided to opt for Infinity Tools. Both cutters were in stock, and they were delivered the following day. These are not cheap cutters, and I was pleased to find that they appeared to be well designed and manufactured, and they cut extremely cleanly. I did have a minor problem, in that the fitted bearing on the rebate cutter was of the wrong diameter, however Paul at Infinity was most appologetic and I soon had a replacement bearing to correct the issue. Now, as a little bonus, I can cut 3/8" or 1/2" rebates with the cutter! My chair leg joints look pretty good, and I can't wait to finish the rocker off. |
